Djibouti City, Djibouti - September 4, 2017China Mobile International Limited (“CMI”), the subsidiary of China Mobile Limited, responsible for its international business, has selected the Djibouti Data Center (DDC) to help facilitate its global network expansion, colocation and undersea fiber cable access services in east Africa.

With the DDC’s data center ecosystem and CMI’s network resources, CMI has marked its first step to access Africa, and will further enrich its global network resources in Pan Africa international business to meet the growing demands in the international telecommunications market.

Djibouti Data Center’s CEO Anthony Voscarides said: “We are very pleased that China Mobile International will be joining the carrier neutral DDC ecosystem. The addition of CMI further establishes the DDC ecosystem as the leading carrier neutral data center hub in east Africa serving global and regional telco’s, MNOs, ISPs, and content providers.”

Mr. Voscarides added: “Serving partners such as CMI in the neutral DDC ecosystem supports our mutual objective of making a significant contribution to Africa’s digital evolution, and will most certainly contribute to the economic development and social well-being of the region.”

The DDC will support China Mobile International to establish cable head access, cross-connect, and colocation facilities directly adjacent to Djibouti Telecom’s cable landing station. The DDC is uniquely positioned just meters from the Djibouti Telecom international fiber cable landing station, and stands out as a reliable and cost-effective gateway hub to many of the fastest growing markets and service providers in Africa.
